Land of the Cloudy Mountains

Yunnan boasts an exotic indigenous heritage, traditions, customs and dramatic panoramas. Whether you are interested in nature, culture, history or the great outdoors, Yunnan has it all. A scenic and beautiful province in Southwest China, Yunnan is perfectly located for travel within Asia with Myanmar to the west, Laos to the south and Vietnam to the southeast. The nan of Yunnan means “south” while the Yun comes from the Yun Ling Mountains (Cloudy Mountains). It is said to be the place at the end of the rainbow!

Yunnan’s cultural diversity stems from centuries of ethnic and religious conflict. Dynasty rulers and the destruction by the Mongol Empire shaped the province it is today. Now over 50 different ethnic groups inhabit Yunnan province. The region retains much of its historic past in cities such as Dali and Lijiang and the stunning countryside includes amazing rice terraces, stone forests and jaw-dropping gorges whilst trekking and skiing in the mountainous snow-capped peaks at the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, are a must for adrenaline seekers. Yunnan is also a great place for golf too and there are no less than 9 golf courses to choose from.
