Iran

Land of glory and beauty

Uncover the mystery and wonder of exotic Iran. Acknowledged as one of the most ancient countries of the world, history lovers will enjoy finding out about its 7,000 years of culture and civilisation. Remnants of ancient civilizations can still be seen, as demonstrated by the extensive marble ruins of Persepolis, the Persian Empire’s capital founded by Darius I in the 6th century B.C. The modern capital is Tehran, a city of old and new – from the modern 435m-high Milad Tower which dominates the skyline and the stunningly opulent Golestan Palace, the former residence of the Qajar Dynasty between 1794 and 1925. Iran is a country of sublime beauty, from the ancient cities of Isfahan, Shiraz and Yazd to its breath-taking countryside. From vast deserts to stunning waterfalls and lakes, forests and meadows to gigantic mountain ranges, the landscape is ever changing. Located in South-western Asia, largely on a high plateau, situated between the Caspian Sea to the north and the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf to the South, Iran is a truly fascinating and intoxicating destination.
