Vietnam Highlights - Itinerary
This is a great group tour which showcases the best of Vietnam and is perfect for those with limited time. Explore the capital Hanoi with its leafy streets and abundance of lakes and motorbikes!
Halong Bay offers a welcome rest bite from the noise of the city and Hue and Hoi An evoke a more pedestrian and calmer time. Ho Chi Minh City is a vibrant and pulsating metropolis mirroring Vietnam’s desire for modernity and progress.
Day 1
Arrive Hanoi

Arrive at Noi Bai International Airport where you will be met and welcomed by your Vietnamese guide. Transfer to your hotel for checking-in. The remainder of the day is free at leisure.
Day 2
Hanoi


In the morning we explore Hanoi’s illustrious history. Visit the imposing marble edifice housing the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum before moving onto his wooden stilt house and the One Pillar Pagoda. We then visit the site of Vietnam’s first university, the Temple of Literature, which is imbued with the profound philosophies of Confucianism.

Day 3
Hanoi – Halong Bay


After breakfast we drive out of Hanoi through the rice paddies of the lush Red River Delta en route to Halong Bay. Upon arrival we board a junk for a cruise among the hundreds of islets of Halong Bay.

Enjoy a seafood lunch and a swim (weather permitting) before visiting a grotto of gigantic stalactites and stalagmites. We then drop anchor in the late evening for an overnight stay among the dramatic limestone peaks rising out of the sea.
Day 4
Halong Bay – Hue

Spend the morning cruising through the limestone cliffs and emerald waters of Halong Bay before returning to the wharf.

Drive back to Hanoi. In the evening transfer to Hanoi Railway Station (Ga Hanoi) for the overnight train to Hue. (Train departs at 10pm)
Day 5
Hue


Arrival at Hue Railway Station (10:35am) where you are met and transferred to your hotel. Take lunch at a local restaurant. After breakfast we have a boat cruise on the peaceful Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda and then drive to the splendid mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang set amid rolling hills and beautiful countryside.

In the afternoon we proceed to the Imperial Citadel and the Royal Antique Museum. The spectacular Citadel (which was built in accordance to strict principles of geomancy) houses a series of palaces, ornate halls, libraries, residences and colleges and was the scene of intensive fighting during the 1968 Tet Offensive. The scars of the conflict can still be seen in the masonry.
Day 6
Hue – Hoi An


After breakfast we have a boat cruise on the peaceful Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda. We then drive along the coast before ascending the Hai Van Pass and down the other side to Hoi An.

In Hoi An we have a guided walking tour of Hoi An’s historic old town including an ancient merchant house, the Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the vibrant riverside market.
Day 7
Hoi An – Ho Chi Minh City

Free time to explore Hoi An (Optional tours are available at an additional cost).

Drive to Danang for the short internal flight south to the bustling metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). Upon arrival you will be met by your South Vietnamese tour guide and transferred to your hotel.
Day 8
Ho Chi Minh City


We have a half day sightseeing tour which includes Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office, Chinatown with its Binh Tay Market and Thien Hau Temple.

Free afternoon (Optional tours are available at an additional cost.
Day 9
Ho Chi Minh City

There is free time until your transfer to Tan Son Nhat International Airport and your onward flight.
