Vietnam Classic Tour - Itinerary
This trip lets you explore the five Hs – Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City. Although reunited in 1975 Vietnam still has three distinctive regions – north, centre and south, each with their own style, history, cuisine and culture. Hanoi and Halong Bay in the north exude elegance whilst the former imperial capital Hue and Hoi An in the centre hark back to a more sedate time. Bustling Ho Chi Minh City in the south is brash and bristling with optimism and enterprise. It’s a fascinating country and one which people often return to again and again.
Day 1
Hanoi

Arrive at Noi Bai International Airport where you will be met and welcomed by your Vietnamese guide. Transfer by road to your hotel for checking-in and briefing of the tour. The remainder of the day is free at leisure.
Day 2
Hanoi

In the morning explore the imposing marble edifice housing the Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum before moving onto his wooden stilt house and the One Pillar Pagoda. Then visit the site of Vietnam’s first university, the Temple of Literature.

In the afternoon visit Hoan Kiem Lake, the focal point of the capital and the Ngoc Son Temple followed by a one-hour cyclo tour of Hanoi’s Old Quarter.
Day 3
Hanoi – Halong Bay

After breakfast drive through the rice paddies of the lush Red River Delta en route to Halong Bay. Board a traditional junk for a cruise of islets of Halong Bay.

Enjoy a seafood lunch and a swim (weather permitting) before visiting a grotto of gigantic stalactites and stalagmites. Drop anchor for an overnight stay.
Day 4
Halong Bay – Hue

Spend the morning cruising through Halong Bay before returning to the wharf.

Before returning to the airport stop at a village for a traditional water puppet show. This distinctly North Vietnamese art form dates back over a thousand years. Upon arrival in Hue transfer to your hotel.
Day 5
Hue

After breakfast enjoy a boat cruise on the peaceful Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda and then drive to the splendid mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang set amid rolling hills and beautiful countryside.

In the afternoon proceed to the Imperial Citadel and the Dong Ba Riverside Market.
Day 6
Hue – Hoi An
