Royal North India - Itinerary
Uncover Rajasthan’s rich and often turbulent past as we embark on a tour of the region’s major cities and fortified Rajput towns. Enjoy a cycling tour through Jaipur’s narrow streets passing monuments and palaces along the way. Stroll through the golden desert town of Jaisalmer with its intricately stone-carved mansions and drive out to the Sam Sand Dunes for sunset over the Thar Desert. Visit a temple dedicated to rats outside Bikaner and view the beautifully decorated havellis or merchant houses in Mandawa. This tour is a great introduction to sumptuous royal north India.
Day 1
Arrive Delhi

Arrive at Delhi International Airport and check in to your hotel.

Remainder of the day is free at leisure.
Day 2
Delhi


In the morning we begin a full day sightseeing of Old and New Delhi visiting the Red Fort, Raj Ghat. In the afternoon in New Delhi visit Qutub Minar, the Lotus Temple – this distinctive lotus shaped marvel in Marble is a symbol of peace. Drive past India Gate (the war memorial) and the President’s Residence and Parliament.

Return to hotel and overnight in Delhi.
Day 3
Delhi – Agra

Drive to Agra, on arrival check in. In the afternoon visit Taj Mahal, perhaps the most photographed monument in the world. Then drive to Agra Fort; a massive structure reflecting the synthesis of Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles built by Emperor Akbar.

Overnight in Agra.
Day 4
Agra – Fatehpur Sikri – Jaipur

Drive to Jaipur, stopping en route at Fatehpur Sikri – built from red sandstone by Emperor Akbar to commemorate the birth of his son. Later drive to Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 5
Jaipur


An early start for a cycling adventure, where we meander through the narrow streets, past the monuments and palaces of Jaipur. The trip offers stunning views covering palaces, lakes, mountains and small rural hamlets. Return back to hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast an excursion to Amber – a classic Rajasthan Fort-Palace. For an experience that’s truly royal visitors can reach the fort through snaking pathways on the back of an elephant. In the afternoon visit Hawa Mahal, the best-known landmark of Jaipur.
Day 6
Jaipur – Udaipur

After breakfast drive to Udaipur, check-in at Hotel. Udaipur is in the central part of the fascinating region of Mewar. The royal past is reflected in the rich ornaments on the doors of the houses in the old town. Overnight in Udaipur.
Day 7
Udaipur

Visit the City Palace Museum and enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola to experience stunning view of the city and palaces. Stop to visit the Jagdish Temple.
Day 8
Udaipur – Ranakpur – Jodhpur


Drive to Jodhpur en route visiting the 15th century Ranakpur Jain Temple. Next drive to Jodhpur and check in to the hotel. In the afternoon visit Mehrangarh Fort. Within the fort there are a large number of courtyards and palaces with a wonderful collection of folk instruments, paintings, furniture and royal costumes. Nearby is Jaswant Thanda, the marble memorial of Maharajah Jaswant Singh II. Overnight in Jodhpur.
Day 9
Jodhpur – Jaisalmer

Drive to the golden desert city of Jaisalmer. The magnificent wood and stone-carved mansions and buildings here display the love of the Rajputs towards the fine arts. Bhatti Rajput Rawal Jaisal founded the walled city of Jaisalmer in 1156. The history of Jaisalmer also reveals the courage and determination of the Rajputs. The city used to be a major trade center as it was on main trade route linking the West to India. On arrival check-in and overnight in Jaisalmer.

Day 10
Jaisalmer

After breakfast wander through the narrow streets of the walled city and inside the fort. Houses, temples, and havelis are very different from what you would find in other parts of Rajasthan. In the late afternoon take a trip to the Sam Sand Dunes for a stunning sunset. There is an optional camel ride.

Overnight in Jaisalmer.
Day 11
Jaisalmer – Bikaner


We have an early Morning drive to Bikaner. On arrival, check in into the Hotel. Visit Bikaner Fort and Camel Breeding Farm.

Day 12
Bikaner – Mandawa


After breakfast there’s an excursion to the fascinating Deshnok Temple (Rat Temple). Return to hotel and drive to the open-air art gallery of Rajasthan: the Shekawati Region. Mandawa is a small town in the heart Shekawati. The place is known not only for its Havelis but also for its Fort Palace. Visit the Havelis of former prominent Indian businessmen whose walls are richly decorated with high quality frescoes. Overnight in Mandawa.
Day 13
Mandawa – Delhi

Drive to Delhi airport for your onward flight.
