Find out just how much this amazing destination has to offer on this 12 day trip. Discover the fascinating aquatic lifestyle of Inle Lake, complete with ‘leg-rowing’ fishermen and floating gardens. Visit the ethnic villages near Kalaw Hill station and cruise along the Irrawaddy River from Mandalay to Bagan. Explore the former ancient capital of Ava and walk across the world’s longest wooden bridge. Enjoy sunset from a buddhist temple on Mandalay Hill and shop for souvenirs at Yangon’s bustling Scott’s Market. Enjoy!
Day 1
Arrive Yangon

Arrive Yangon and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2
Yangon


Explore fascinating Yangon including Custom House, The British Embassy, and the General Post Office.

Visit Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda with its reclining Buddha, Little India and Chinatown.

Visit the stunning Shwedagon Pagoda at sunset.
Day 3
Yangon – Mandalay

Drive to see the Nat Shrine of the Car and witness a blessing. Continue to Mhawbi to visit Mahawihara monastery where about one thousand monks live and study.

Return to Yangon fly to Mandalay.
Day 4
Mandalay


Explore the sights of Mandalay: namely the Shwenandaw Golden Palace Monastery, Atumashi Monastery and Kuthodaw Pagoda featuring the ‘World’s Largest Book’.

Visit Ava, a former capital from the 14th to 18th centuries. Later visit U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest wooden bridge. Return to Mandalay late afternoon.
Day 5
Mandalay – Bagan

Early departure to board a local boat for a full day cruise on the Irrawaddy.

Arrive in Bagan as the sun is setting and transfer to your hotel.
Day 6
Bagan


Full day’s exploration of Bagan including Shwezigon Pagoda and the magnificent Ananda Temple.

Visit Minnathu village to gain an insight into local life.
Day 7
Mandalay – Bagan

Free day to relax at pool side or perhaps have an electric bike ride tour around the temples. There is the option of a sunrise balloon ride over the temples.
Day 8
Bagan – Kalaw

Fly to Heho followed by a drive to Kalaw. Learn about traditional ethnic minority life with village stops.

Stop at Myin Ma Hti sandstone cave before continuing to Kalaw hill station.
Day 9
Kalaw


Excursion to a local elephant camp and reforestation project.

Either explore the area with the elephant camp’s guide or learn about reforestation efforts.
Day 10
Kalaw – Inle Lake

Take the local train from Kalaw to Shwe Nyaung. Then drive to Inle Lake.

Arrive at Inle Lake and transfer to your hotel, set in a tranquil spot by the lake.
Day 11
Inle Lake


Board a local boat to explore the lake and its inhabitants, witnessing ‘leg-rowing’ fishermen and the floating gardens where farmers grow a surprising variety of fruit and vegetables.

Visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary.
Day 12
Inle Lake

Explore a morning market visited by people from surrounding villages and hill tribes. Cuise along verdant canals to ancient stupas.

Return to the hotel and remainder of day is free.
Day 13
Inle Lake – Yangon

Fly to Yangon. Chance to do some souvenir shopping – Bogyoke Aung San Market, known formerly as Scott’s market is famed for its colonial architecture and cobblestone streets.
Day 14
Yangon

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
